In focus

A dark silhouette over inland country

The Black Falcon is a striking, dark-plumaged raptor of Australia’s open landscapes. Long wings and purposeful flight suit a life ranging widely over grasslands, plains and lightly wooded country. Often associated with inland regions, it adds another dimension to the birds that share eastern Australia’s broader landscapes.

Where to look

Mainly inland open country; uncommon and sparsely distributed in NSW.
