In focus

At home where land meets water

The Eastern Osprey is a specialist fish hunter, often seen searching clear coastal waters from above. Its dark eye stripe, pale underside and angled wings help distinguish it in flight. Large stick nests on trees, cliffs and suitable structures make this coastal raptor a recognisable part of many seaside landscapes.

Where to look

Coastal eastern Australia, especially northern NSW and Queensland.
