Grace above the wetlands

With long outstretched necks and broad grey wings, Brolgas bring unmistakable grace to Australian skies. These large cranes travel between wetlands and feeding grounds, sometimes gathering in flocks. Known for their elaborate dances and carrying calls, they remind us how healthy wetlands and surrounding open country support a rich variety of life.

Where to look

Northern and eastern Australia, with smaller populations in south-eastern wetlands.
